Nov 2019, Mombasa – Kenya.
I was invited to the curatorial boards of – African Crossroads – a community of future-oriented African thinkers and doers which meets annually to exchange and critically reflect on the most cutting-edge entrepreneurial, scientific, artistic, and technological developments anchored in African intellectual and technological traditions. I served as the music curator for the entire gathering, but also set up a Bengatronics pop up studio inside the Little Theatre in Mombasa. Local artist collaborated with others from Ethiopia, Uganda, Morocco and Kenya. The album is a melting pot for diverse genres , it brings forth a contemporary blend of urban African music today that is slightly on the underground – from classic Taarab through Afrofusion to urban sounds of East African dancehall.
